Aqua-Lung DA “aqua-master” #201045
The Aqua-Lung DA Aqua-Master, introduced by U.S. Divers in 1958, is a significant milestone in scuba diving history. This two-stage, unbalanced upstream regulator features a venturi assist, enhancing breathing efficiency underwater.
This regulator, bearing serial number 201045, indicates it was manufactured around 1959, shortly after U.S. Divers began stamping serial numbers starting from 200000.
The “USD” stamp signifies “U.S. Divers,” the company responsible for producing the Aqua-Master series.
Initially, the DA Aqua-Master was equipped with black hoses and a straight black mouthpiece secured with Tinnerman clamps. In mid-1958, a hookah port was added, allowing for surface-supplied air. By 1959, the regulator featured yellow hoses and mouthpieces for enhanced visibility, with serial numbers stamped on the label.
The DA Aqua-Master remained in production until 1972, undergoing various modifications to meet divers’ evolving needs and technological advancements. Its robust design and reliable performance have made it a cherished piece among vintage scuba gear collectors.
