Scubapro MK3

The MK3, often considered the smaller sibling of the MK2, was distinctively designed with a smaller piston and cap, setting it apart from other models, particularly the MK5. Unlike its catalog appearances, this MK3 model features an environmental cap, a retrofit item not originally offered in standard catalog versions, thanks to insights provided by Frank Wurthwein.

The MK3 was produced from 1968 to 1980 and was primarily distributed in Europe. Its design includes a first stage similar to the MK2 but adapted for compactness and efficiency, paired with either the 108 or later HP second stages. This setup provided reliable, smooth airflow and durability, essential features for divers at the time.

Reflecting on the MK3’s role in scuba history highlights the continuous progress in scuba gear development. Each model evolution, like the subsequent MK4, represented an industry committed to advancing safety and functionality in diving equipment. For collectors and enthusiasts of vintage scuba gear, the MK3 embodies a unique chapter in diving technology.
