This Airdive MAXIFLOW regulator represents an exceptionally rare and important development in early scuba technology. Not only does this unit feature what is believed to be one of the first MAXIFLOW second stages produced, but it also includes the MK2 first stage, as no confirmed MK1 examples are currently known.
As a result, this regulator sits right at the forefront of early single-hose regulator evolution in Australia.
Early MAXIFLOW Second Stage
Firstly, the MAXIFLOW second stage stands out as a highly unusual and early design. Unlike later refined regulators, this unit reflects a period when manufacturers actively experimented with airflow performance and breathing efficiency.
Because of this, the MAXIFLOW name itself highlights the focus on improved air delivery, which was a key innovation at the time.
