Poseidon Cyklon 1958–1993 Golden Anniversary #84
Poseidon Cyklon 1958–1993 Gold Anniversary Regulator (#84/500)
A Rare Collectible and Final Tribute to a Diving Icon
The Poseidon Cyklon Gold Anniversary Regulator, serial number 84 of 500, represents one of the rarest and most desirable collector’s items in scuba diving history. Created in 1993 to celebrate 35 years of the legendary Cyklon, this golden edition marked the end of an era in dive equipment design and innovation.
Celebrating 35 Years of Innovation
Poseidon released this regulator as the final version of the classic Cyklon 300, which first revolutionized diving in 1958. Unlike traditional models, the Cyklon featured a side exhaust, which offered superior performance in cold water and excellent bubble dispersion for photographers. Over the decades, it earned the trust of recreational, technical, and even military divers.
To honour this legacy, Poseidon produced only 500 gold-plated units, each uniquely numbered. Your regulator, #84, is part of this elite group.
Complete and Original Collector’s Set
Your regulator includes the full presentation kit, which significantly increases its value. This set contains:
-
A gold-plated Poseidon Cyklon regulator
-
A solid teak presentation box
-
A certificate of authenticity signed by company founder Ingvar Elfström
-
A commemorative scroll celebrating the Cyklon’s history
-
The extremely rare Poseidon lapel pin
Unlike modern commemorative editions, Poseidon distributed these regulators directly to their global network of dealers and importers—not to the general public. As a result, most units never reached collectors, and only a handful have appeared on the secondary market since.
Global Release, Local Rarity
Despite international distribution, very few of these regulators have surfaced. Most remain in private collections, untouched and unlisted. According to online dive forums, fewer than two or three full sets have been publicly offered in the past 30 years. That rarity makes this particular regulator, especially with all components intact, exceptionally valuable.
Still Functional, Built to Last
Although primarily intended as a display piece, the regulator’s engineering remains true to Poseidon’s high standards. Some collectors who have tested theirs report that it still breathes smoothly even after decades of storage. Nonetheless, if you plan to dive it, a full inspection and service by a Poseidon-certified technician is essential for safety.
Collector’s Perspective
Gold-plated dive regulators are rare, but one with complete provenance and presentation—like yours—is rarer still. Prices vary based on condition and completeness, but recent offerings have ranged from €1700 to over £3000. Including the lapel pin, certificate, and original packaging adds significantly to both historical and monetary value.
