The Argonaut Kraken regulator represents a remarkable fusion of heritage and innovation. Developed by Vintage Double Hose under Bryan Pennington, it became the first twin-hose regulator of the 21st century. It blends a classic double-hose style with modern engineering to deliver outstanding breathing performance.
Only a few hundred units were ever produced worldwide, making each one highly collectible. Serial AK16-021, delivered to Australia in 2016, is part of an early batch—likely the 21st unit in that series. This provenance adds significant historical and collector value.
Design and Performance
The Kraken uses a balanced diaphragm first stage that maintains stable intermediate pressure across all depths and tank pressures. Its adjustable cracking effort lets divers fine-tune inhalation resistance for a smoother and easier breathe. Moreover, a Venturi-assisted second stage increases airflow efficiency and responsiveness underwater.
With three low-pressure ports and one high-pressure port, the Kraken supports both modern gauges and inflator systems. Built from high-grade brass and composite materials, it remains durable and corrosion-resistant. Food-grade silicone hoses and diaphragms complete the design, ensuring both safety and comfort.
